Hospitallised Captain with Legionellosis

The captain on board a super yacht was hospitalized to what later proved to be legionellosis.
A survey of the vessel, whilst berthed in Barcelona, and interviews with crew proved everything was done properly and the system itself was well designed and maintained. The vessel uses copper/silver sterilization, a slow disinfectant aimed at biofilm.

Changes to flushing frequencies were made and a monitoring and analysis routine was improved upon. Additionally, advice was given to further improve the knowledge on board and a water safety plan was issued to support the crew and the vessel in keeping the water safe.
